ABANCA FOUNDATION SOCIOCULTURAL CENTER

ABANCA FOUNDATION SOCIOCULTURAL CENTER

Cultural space with quality exhibitions and events, located in a historic building near emblematic points of interest. Ideal for exploring.

It is one of the most outstanding cultural institutions of Ferrol, characterized by the quality of its temporary exhibitions. It is also an ideal space for the organization of events.

ABANCA  is located in the center of Ferrol, very close to other emblematic buildings of the city, such as the Jofre Theater, the Co-Cathedral, the Market and Post Office.

Its building dates from the beginning of the 19th Century and has a symmetrical floor plan and a classic style. It has had different uses: from City Hall to prison. Then, it functioned as a secondary school – Concepción Arenal and Gonzalo Torrente Ballester taught  here– Finally, it was also the headquarters for the Military Government.

Its current configuration is due to the last reform completed in 2005, which enabled its interior to be used as a multi-purpose building, adaptable to a multitude of possibilities and also with universal access. With just over 4,300 m², distributed over seven floors, it has an assembly hall equipped with the latest technological advances and various rooms for exhibitions, workshops, courses, etc.
